Dear Friends
Before saying "WELCOME TO YOUR DEPARTMENT", I would like you to know that by joining us, you have contributed to our strength and you will conduce us to become a much stronger "Department of Aeronautical Engineering" in the coming years. Because as you know, although we are a fledgling Department of Aeronautical Engineering that has not yet graduated, we are the 4th highest ranked department in our country. The only reason for this is us and you who prefer us and our department in the central placement exam. We continue our rise every year by adding strength to each other's strength as a "Cause and Effect Relationship".
The fact that we have not graduated yet does not change your status as founding students. In other words, you are in the status of founders as much as we, your professors and all department lecturers. Naturally, the founding of an education-teaching-research system brings difficulties. But if you use the advantages well, these difficulties will be easily overcome. Yes, there is still no building belonging to our department and we carry out all our educational activities with the facilities of other departments or the common facilities of the faculty. But this fact is not only a reality for our university and our department, but also for other aeronautical engineering departments in our country. But we have very high values as a department. First and foremost, we are a department in "Eskişehir, the Capital of Aviation". In fact, our department should have been established in this city a long time ago. This characteristic of Eskisehir is (in fact) the best infrastructure for our department. Due to the protocols made with TAI, 1st HBFM (Air Supply and Maintenance Center Command) and Tepebaşı Municipalities, some parts of some of our courses are held in these three institutions. In addition, all aviation and defense industry companies affiliated to the Eskişehir Aviation Cluster (ESAC), of which I am a founding member, are ready to help our department in the name of educational support. The technical capabilities that we have with the grants received from these ESAC members (and which will be deployed in our department when our buildings are built) are capabilities that no other department in our country has.
I would like to share with you a new surprise about our department capabilities and the projects we will realize with you. As students of ESOGU Department of Aeronautical Engineering, you will also be an employee of HUZTAM, the "Aerospace Technologies Application and Research Center" established within our department. As a natural employee of the projects we will carry out in this center, which is completely managed by our department, you will be with your teacher in national and international publications, and you will receive domestic and international assignments to present a paper as required by the project. In the meantime, I would like to proudly share that we have started these activities thanks to you, our valuable students. So how will we achieve these valuable activities (despite the narrow opportunities) that you will share in your CVs? Of course, with our valuable faculty members and department staff.
Friends, according to the latest figures, the average number of students per faculty member in Aircraft / Space / Aerospace Engineering Education in our country is 37.51, while this figure is only 18 in our department. The following question may come to your mind. We are still in the establishment phase and the number of students is increasing rapidly. However, I am happy to say that the number of academic staff (including those from foreign universities) is also increasing rapidly. Today, there are applications for teaching staff from China, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt and Italy, and we are all meticulously examining these applications. Because you are the ones in question. Your professors who conduct these examinations are already an asset for our country. They are experts in their fields, have worked in the defense industry and aviation for years, have been or are working as consultants, but have never left academics and have always been at the top. They are unique values who have brought their overseas experiences to our country as added value and have brought new projects and publications to our department and our country with these experiences. All of them want you to become a valuable Aircraft Engineer by working with them as soon as possible. All our department staff are waiting for you with great excitement and are doing their best to make our future better.
Friends, I realize that this is a bit of a long introduction. As a result, I hope a future full of "Success and Quality" awaits us. Because we have Mustafa Kemal in our hearts, who said "Future is in the Skies", and Airplanes in our brains.
"WELCOME TO YOUR DEPARTMENT" in the 100th Year of our Republic.
